The authorities of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and district police have taken extra security measures to avoid any untoward incident on Pahela Boishakh, the first day of the Bengali New Year.

CMP Commissioner Krishna Pada Roy said during a visit at Chattogram’s CRB Shirishtala and DC Hill areas.

He said CMP issued some important directives on the occasion of Bangla New Year 1431. At the same time authority urged all to abide by these guidelines for the protection of public safety and law and order.

Some 3,850 police personnel have been deployed for uninterrupted celebration of Pahela Boishakh in the city and district, he said.

He said special security measures will be taken especially at the biggest Boishakhi Mela celebration venues - DC Hill, CRB area, Patenga sea beach and Shilpakala Academy, said CMP sources.

RAB will also deploy over 350 personnel in Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Feni and Comilla cities to maintain law and order, RAB Commander Mahbubul Alam said.
