Offices, banks resume after Eid-Pahela Baishakh vacation

The government offices, courts, banks and stock markets resumed today (April 15) after a 6-day holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr and Pahela Baisakh.

Most of the holidaymakers have already arrived in the capital after celebrating the biggest religious festival of the Muslim community and welcoming the Bengali New Year.

On the occasion of Eid, 10 April to 12 April (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday) were public holidays. After Eid, there was a weekly holiday on Saturday (13 April) and a Bengali New Year holiday on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh on Sunday (April 14). As a result, employees are enjoying holidays from 10 April to 14 April.

After six consecutive days of holidays, all have joined work today.

A rush of people to reach their workplaces has been seen on the city roads this morning. Public transport has also started to be crowded again.

The capital is expected to return to normal after the reopening of schools and colleges next week.
