Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said the depression over east central Bay and adjoining west central Bay moved to north-northeastwards and intensified into a deep depression over the same area at 9am today (May 25).

Earlier on Friday, the met office advised the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra to keep hoisting distant cautionary signal no-1.
However, the met release valid for 72 hours from 9am today said light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places in Khulna, Barisal and Chattogram divisions, at many places in Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at some places in southern part of the country.
Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.
Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and it may continue.
Day temperature may remain nearly unchanged and night temperature may fall by 1-2 degrees Celsius over the country.
Due to increase of moisture incursion, the discomfort may persist.
Country's maximum temperature on Friday was recorded 40.0 degrees Celsius at Chudanga, and minimum temperature today was 24.0 degrees Celsius at Sitakunda.
Rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6am today was recorded 17mm at Teknaf.
