The death count from Cyclone Remal which smashed into low-lying areas of Bangladesh has risen to at least 11 people.
Besides, the cyclone destroyed around 1.5 lakh houses and affected more than 37,000 people, State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Mohibbur Rahman said on Monday (May 27).
He was describing the situation after cyclone in the conference room of the ministry this afternoon.
Among the fatalities, one died in Khulna, one in Satkhira, three in Barisal, one in Patuakhali, three in Bhola, one in Chattogram, added the minister.
He also said that 37, 58, 096 people were affected in 19 district and around 1, 50, 475 houses were destroyed.
Later, at least one more person has died, amid the ongoing weather impact of cyclone "Remal", after drowning in a canal in Chattogram on Monday.
