A court in Joypurhat today (May 28) sentenced 10 people including father to life imprisonment and son for murder due to a land dispute.

Additional Sessions Judge First Court Judge Nurul Islam of the district also fined each Tk 100,000, in default another two years in prison.

The convicts are - Joynal Mandal, Mozammel Haque, Mofazzal Hossain, Mostafa, Mosfar Ali, Mahfuzar Rahman, Masud, Mamunur Rashid, Samsuddin and Belal Hossain.

According to case statement, on the afternoon of July 5, 2015 convicts attacked with local arms on Saidul and Shariful (two brothers) for resisting of illegally cutting soil from their father’s land.

Later, locals immediately rushed Saidul and Shariful to hospital, where Saidul died while receiving treatment on July 14.

After that, late Saidul’s father Abdus Samad of Awrah village of Kalai upazila lodged a murder case.
