A total of 229 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed across the country today (July 18) to maintain law and order.
Shariful islam, public relations officer of BGB confirmed the matter.
Earlier today, the central committee of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in a press release called for a peaceful "Complete Shutdown" across the country to push home their demand to reform the quota system and protests the attacks on student protesters.
Earlier on June 5, the High Court declared the government's 2018 decision to cancel the 30 percent quota for freedom fighters' children illegal following a writ petition. As a result, the 30 percent quota was reinstated.
