Bashundhara Foundation provides free medical care to 500 patients

Over 500 patients from Singjuri Union in Ghior Upazila of Manikganj received free medical treatment on Saturday (Nov 23) through a health camp organized by the Afroza Begum General Hospital, a health service initiative of the Bashundhara Foundation.

The camp was set up at the Baikunthpur Khagrata Dakhil Madrasa ground in Singjuri Union, where hundreds of men and women received medical services from 9 AM. Prior to the camp, patients had registered at a separate booth.

Three teams of doctors were providing services in different booths based on the patients' conditions.

Farid Mia, one of the patients, expressed his gratitude, saying that it was difficult for him to visit a doctor in the city due to his illness. The cost of doctor fees and transportation had also been a major burden.

He appreciated the free service, especially as it was available near his home, saving him both money and time.

Amenah Begum, another local resident, thanked the Bashundhara Group for their continued support during natural disasters like floods and winter. She was grateful that the group had arranged medical care for the people in the area. "We always pray for the owners of Bashundhara," she said.

Kazi Tawhid, the Administrative Manager of Afroza Begum General Hospital, explained that the free medical camp offered services like blood grouping, diabetes tests, blood pressure checkups, and consultations for various health issues. Doctors Sirajul Islam, Nisita Rahman Preeti, and Tola Islam provided the consultations.

He also shared that the hospital plans to continue hosting free medical camps regularly to ensure that underprivileged people can access healthcare.

Kazi Tawhid added that every Friday, Afroza Begum General Hospital, located in the heart of Manikganj city, would provide special discounts on medical services. Patients visiting the hospital on Fridays will receive free consultations, a 40% discount on all tests, and waiver of the registration fee (100 Taka) and admission fee (300 Taka).

Gulam Sharwar Shanu, the chief advisor of the current committee of the Manikganj Press Club, praised Bashundhara Group's continuous support during crises. "Bashundhara Group is always the first and most effective in coming forward to help during disasters or difficulties in Manikganj. This time, they have stepped forward with free medical services for the underprivileged citizens. We, the people of Manikganj, thank Bashundhara Group," he said.
