Authorities have announced the closure of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport after the resignation of the Sheikh Hasina led government.
Flight operations through the airport have been suspended since 5:30 p.m. on Monday (August 5).
Airport Director Group Captain Kamrul Islam confirmed the matter.
He told the media that flights have been suspended at Shahjalal International Airport since 5:15 PM.
“I have not yet received any instructions regarding starting of flight operations. Further instructions will be notified as available,” he said.
After Sheikh Hasina submitted her resignation letter to the President and left the country on Monday afternoon, the army took over.
Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman confirmed the matter after an emergency meeting at the capital's cantonment at 3:50 pm.
