In response to recent attacks on shrines in the country, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has instructed all deputy commissioners (DCs) to take necessary steps to maintain peace and order at shrines.
The directive was issued on Sunday through a letter from the ministry’s Institution-2 branch.
The letter expressed concern over recent attacks on shrines by miscreants aiming to disrupt public order.
It stated that these attacks are alarming and unwarranted, considering the historical and religious significance of shrines, which have long been places of devotion and pilgrimage for followers.
The ministry also said that recent attacks on shrines are planned, which appear to be an attempt to embarrass the interim government.
The ministry has asked DCs to take immediate measures to ensure peace at these holy sites and maintain a safe environment for devotees. DCs have also been asked to promptly inform the ministry of any potential threats or attacks on shrines.
