Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain on Tuesday highlighted the importance of IOM's ongoing proactive role in safeguarding the rights of Bangladeshi migrant workers in both destination and transit countries.

He acknowledged IOM’s support for the Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMNs) in Cox’s Bazar and stressed the importance of their safe and respectful return to Myanmar.

The issues were discussed during a farewell meeting between the foreign adviser and Abdusattor Esoev, Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Bangladesh, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The foreign adviser praised Esoev’s dynamic and dedicated leadership in Bangladesh and recognized IOM’s unwavering assistance in repatriating and reintegrating individuals in irregular or crisis situations.

Esoev expressed his satisfaction with his time in Bangladesh, lauding the country’s commitment to promoting safe, orderly, and regular migration, and its leadership in the Global Compact on Migration (GCM).
