As many as 1,581 people were killed and over 31,000 others were injured during the July and August mass uprising across the country.
The health sub-committee of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement came up with the figures of casualties at a press conference held at the Teacher-Student Centre of Dhaka University on Saturday (September 28) afternoon.
Most of those killed in the movement were young – aged between 18 and 30 years – and from poor families, they said.
According to the press conference, organisations such as As-Sunnah Foundation, Human Rights Support Society, and Red July have assisted in compiling the list. Additionally, numerous individuals from local communities have provided information to aid in the process.
Farhad Alam Bhuiyan, a member of the National Citizens' Committee, said the list is still under construction and not final. The final list will be released at a later date.
