2 awarded life-term in Chguadanga

CHUADANA: A Chuadanga court on Monday sentenced two people to life-time imprisonment in a sensational and much-talked-about Sahanara killing case.

The convicts are Milon, 35, son of Chotoburo and Ahad Ali, 43, son of Rois Uddin, hailed from Sadar upazila.

Two other accused--Azizul and Mirajur—were acquitted as they were found innocent.

Magistrate M Najim of Additional District and Session Judge-1 of Chuadanga passed the order in the noon.

Sources from the court said, on May 15 in 2009, housewife Shahanara Begum was beaten to death for protesting the killing of pet dog.

Her husband constable Abdul Khaleque filed a case with the thana against four persons in this connection.

Police submitted chargesheet against the four accused in 2012.
