DHAKA: Law enforcers detained some 20 fraudulent police men and seized firearms, microbuses, police uniforms, wireless sets and handcuffs from Rampura and Keraniganj areas of the city on Sunday night.

Joint Commissioner of Detective Branch (DB) of Police Monirul Islam made the disclosure in a press conference at DMP Media Centre on Monday noon.

Monirul Islam said, acting on a tip off, police held six fake DB personnel from Rampura area.

In a special drive, Mirpur Thana Police held some 14 false police officials from Keraniganj area on Sunday night, he added.

Police seized three microbuses, a motorbike, police uniform, two walky-talkies, couple of signal lights, a shooter gun with a bullet, five pair of handcuffs and other belongings used by the arrestees, he added.

He further said the gangs were involved in many crimes, including robbery and snatching in the capital.
