DHAKA: The Election Commission (EC) holds meeting with Deputy Commissioners (DC), Police Supers (SP) and district polling officers on holding the upcoming Upazila polls free and fair.

The meeting started at 11:30am at NEC auditorium in capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Wednesday.

The first phase of Upazila Parisad elections will be held in 97 upazilas on February 19.

EC sources said that election schedule of the rest phases will be published by this month.

With Chief Election Commission (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed in the chair, election commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mobarak, Abu Hafiz, Jabed Ali and Shah Newaz were present in the meeting.

Besides, EC secretary Dr Mohammad Sadik, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hasan Mahmud Khandaker, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General Major General Aziz Ahmed joined the meeting.
