4 of a family killed in Sylhet road crash

SYLHET: Four persons of a family were killed and two other people were injured critically in a head-on-collision between a CNG-run auto rickshaw and a truck in Golapganj upazila of the district on Wednesday noon.

The deceased were identified as Humayun Kabir (45), a head post office official in Sylhet, his mother Lal Banu (65), his wife Salma Begum and son Raihan of class five.

Confirming the matter, Gopalganj Thana Officer-in-Charge Shibli told banglanews, “The accident took place in Panchmile area around 2:00pm, leaving one dead on the spot and the others injured critically.

Of the injured, three died at the Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital (SOMCH), he added.

Medical officer of SOMCH emergency Department Mohammad Khairul Bashar said Lal Banu, Salma Begum and Raihan succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

Two other injured persons are under treatment, he added.
