Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the child from Magura and has instructed the authority concerned to take swift action against the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
A statement in this regard has been issued by the Chief Adviser's press wing on Thursday (March 13).
The statement confirmed that the child passed away at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka around 1:00 PM.
Earlier, the child suffered three cardiac arrests. While two attempts to stabilize the child were successful, the third attempt to revive her failed.
The 8-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted on the night of March 5 while visiting her sister's house in the Nijnanduali area of Magura. After the assault, there was an attempt to kill her. She was admitted to CMH in critical condition on March 8.
The child's mother filed a case accusing several individuals, including the girl's brother-in-law, father-in-law, mother-in-law, and brother. All have been arrested and remanded in custody.
