LALMONIRHAT: An adolescent girl was allegedly strangled by her mother at Kisamat Boraibari village in Aditmari upazila on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Archana Rani, 12, a class VII student of Kharua Para School.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

They also held the mother, Bharati Rani, 35, in connection with the killing.

Police said Bharati Rani had developed an illicit affair with a man after the death of her husband four years ago. As, Archana came to know her mother’s affair Bharati strangulated her to death, he said.

A murder case was filed with Aditmari thana.
