Youth held with explosive materials, Jihad books in Jessore

JESSORE: Police detained a youth named Sakhawat Hossain from Paulbari area of the town on Tuesday night with four bullets, half-kg gunpowder, watch, pencil batteries and scotch-tape.

All the materials are used for making bombs or other destructive explosive devices, police said. They also seized two copies of jihad books and catalogs of pistols and Chinese rifles.

The detained Sakhawat is son of Tofael Ahmed of Jessore’s Kalyandaho village.

Kotwali model Thana SI Kamruzzaman told banglanews24.com.bd that Sakhawat was carrying the explosives for some “preplanned subversive activities”.

Police suspect him as member of certain militant group.
