MANIKGANJ: Two people were killed and 20 others injured as a passenger bus plunged into a roadside ditch in Arpara area under Shibaloy Upazila on Dhaka-Aricha highway on Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as Wahab Pramanik, 25, resident of Mohari Mondalpara area of Goalanda upazila in Rajbari district and Nahar, 22, daughter of Tofazzal Mia from Pangsha upazila.

Officer-in-Charge of Shibaloy Thana Abul Kalam Azad told banglanews that a rashly driven passenger bus plunged into a roadside ditch as its driver lost control over steering around 4:00am, leaving the two people dead on the spot and others 20 injured.

The bodies were sent to Manikganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy, he added.

Of the injured, fatally injured five were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
