Expatriate killed in Gopalganj

GOPALGANJ: Miscreants chopped an expatriate to death in front of his residence in Sahapara area of the district early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Sheikh Masudur Rahman Rabet, 45, son of former Gopalganj district general secretary Sheikh Nasiruddin Ahmed.

Sources said that Masudur Rahman solved a local dispute between the youths of Sahapara and Sikderpara on Sunday night.

Later, following the incident some youths from Sikderpara attacked him and chopped indiscriminately with local weapons around 01:00am, leaving him injured critically.

Meanwhile, local people rushed him to Gopalganj General Hospital where on duty doctor declared him dead, sources added.

Law enforcers held 14 people in this connection.

Confirming the matter Gopalganj Sadar Thana Officer-in-Charge M Zakir Hossain Molla told banglanews: “A case was filed in this regard.”
