DHAKA: Bibiyana, the largest producing gas field in Bangladesh, would be closed for five days from Tuesday to Saturday (October 15-19) for renovation.
Confirming the matter, high ups of Chevron Bangladesh said that production from the gas field will be closed for five days for regular renovation works.
The company also said that they will resume the production on Sunday (October 20).
Overall production from the Bibiyana gas field is 812 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) which is one third of the country’s total production.
Petrobangla chairman Dr Hossain Mansur said that due to this closure there won’t be any crisis as the demand reduces to half during the eid days for the shut down of industrial factories.
Currently, the total gas production in the country is 2280 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd).
