Brahmanbaria clash kills 2

BRAHMANBARIA: Two persons were killed and over 50 others injured in sporadic clashes between supporters of former and incumbent chairmen of Sadar Upazila of Brahmanbaria Friday.

The deceased were identified as Ismail Mia, 50, son of late Sobhan Mia and Shamshul Islam, 40, son of Moslem Member. They were rivals.

Locals sources said that there was a long standing dispute between present chairman Iqbal Hossain and former chairman Abdul Hie.

Centering the issue, their supporters locked into a fierce clash with locally-made lethal weapons leaving over 60 people injured.

On information police rushed to spot and fired rubber bullets-tear shells to take the situation under control.

Officer-in-Charge of Brahmanbaria Sadar Thana Abdur Rob confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The injured were rushed to Sadar Hospital and different clinics while two of them were taken to Dhaka in critical condition.
