NOAKHALI: At least seven policemen including Officer-in-charge of Companiganj thana and two robbers were injured in a gunfight between the robber gang and cops in Manik Bazar area under the same upazila of the district early Sunday.
    
Police, however, recovered a one-barrel pistol and 2 rounds of bullets from the scene.

Police sources said that a team of police along with two detained bandits went to conduct a drive to recover firearms on Saturday night.

On their way to return to police station, a gang of dacoits suddenly opened fire on law enforcers. In retaliation, police fired back that triggered gunfight between the both groups, leaving seven cops and two robbers hurt.

Later, police held two bullet-wound robbers from the spot.

However two injured robbers were rushed to Noakhali General Hospital.

Companiganj police station Officer-in-Charge Sajedur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
