BHOLA: At least five fishermen were injured in a clash between coastguard personnel and fishermen over setting up fishing nets and fishing Hilsha fish illegally in Tetulia River at Lalmohan upazila in the district on Monday.

Sources said the fishermen locked into the clash with coastguard men as they obstructed fishing Hilsha fish illegally in the area.

At one stage, they engaged into a chase and counter chase over fishing, leaving five fishermen injured, said a spot account of the incident.

The Coastguard personnel, however, opened fire in the air to bring the situation under control.

Coastguard South Zone Operation Officer Lieutenant Rakibul Hasan confirmed the matter to banglanews.
