Cops among 50 injured in Madaripur clash

MADARIPUR: At least 50 people, including three sub-inspectors, were injured in a sporadic clash between two groups of villagers over establishing supremacy at Taltola village under Sadar upazila of the district on Monday.

Police and local sources said the clash erupted following an altercation between Hawlader and Bepari family.

At one stage of the altercation, supporters of two groups locked into sporadic clashes in the morning with lethal weapons that left 50 people, including six police personnel, injured.

The injured 20 were rushed to Madaripur Sadar Hospital.

Police opened fire rubber bullets and teargas shell to bring the situation under control.

Additional police super of the district Nasirul Islam said additional police forces were deployed in the area to avert further untoward situation.
