DHAKA: An explosion took place at the residence of a Jammat-e-Islami activist while making hand grenades near Rasulbag residential area under Bakalia Thana in the port city on Tuesday night.
Police, however, recovered gun powder and other explosive ingredients from the residence of Jamaat activist Nasrullah, 36.
Police arrested Nasrullah’s elder brother Asadullah, 40, while wife of Nasrullah was taken to custody for interrogation.
While talking about objectives behind the hand grenade preparations, police expressed their concern as Jamaat activists were preparing for subversive acts ahead of October 25.

Meanwhile the incident created panic through the port city days after the deadly bomb explosion rocked the Jamiatul Ulom Al-Islamia Madrasa.
On October 11, the explosion took place at the Madrasa run-by the senior Nayeb-e-Ameer of Hefajat-e-Islam Mufti Izharul Islam Chowdhury in Lalkhan Bazar area of the port city, leaving two students dead and three others critically injured.
