DHAKA: Tight security measures have been taken at 18 party’s rally venue in capital’s Nayapaltan area from Thursday morning.
Putting barricade on streets, law enforcers are checking the people and vehicles including rickshaw, CNG, Taxi cab.
Despite Dhaka Metropolitan Police banned all political gatherings indefinitely, 18-party alliance determined on holding October 25 rally.
Following the opposition party decision, the security measures have been beefed up in the area.
Police sources said that extra security measures were taken after BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam expressed firm determination to hold rally in the capital on October 25.
Besides, armed police car and prison vans were kept standby at Bijoynagar intersection. Two white colored microbus of detective branch of police remained parked in front of the BNP central office.
Following the matter, Assistant Sub-Inspector Jahangir Alam told banglanews, “Centering the rally we are in alert position.”
