CHITTAGONG: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel and additional police force were deployed in the port city on Thursday to thwart any untoward situation
Tension mounting the city as Awami League and BNP confronted to hold rallies at Laldighi ground.
Around 120 BGB personnel were seen patrolling in several places of the port city to avert violence and unwanted situation.
Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Masud-Ul-Hasan said that around 200 BGB personnel would be accompanied with CMP. However 600 police men were deployed from Reserve Force with the regular force in the city.
Moreover another 700 police personnel were deployed in several upazilas of the district.
Earlier on Wednesday police banned all kinds of meeting, protest or demonstrations for indefinite time in the port city.
The Police Commissioner of CMP M Shafiqul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
