GAZIPUR: As Awami League and BNP convened rallies in same venue and time in several places of the district, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel were deployed there to maintain law and order from Friday morning.

Three platoons BGB personnel were seen patrolling in various spots at 9:00am.

A reliable police source said that executive magistrates are moving with the BGB patrol team.

Awami League and BNP called rallies at Mukta Mancha in the metropolitan city.

Besides, both the parties claimed that they got permission to hold their rallies at Sreepur Mukta Mancha in the upazila.

Law enforcers have been kept on alert as the two rival parties convened progrmmes in different part of the district including Tongi, Konabari and Kashimpur areas.

Gazipur Police Super Abdul Baten PPM told banglanews, “No one sought permission to hold any demonstration.”
