DHAKA: Eminent journalist, columnist and news analyist Gias Kamal Chawdhury passed away early Saturday.
He was 74.
He breathed his last at a city hospital.
Gias Kamal Chowdhury was admitted to the hospital a few days back with various complications, including cardiac problem and diabetes.
He was well-known as Dhaka correspondent of Voice of America.
Gias Kamal started his illustrious career in journalism with the Dhaka Times in 1964 and later joined the daily Morning News.
After independence, he joined Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha and later promoted as its chief reporter.
He also worked at Bangladesh High Commission in London as a diplomat.
His Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at Jatiya Press club premises at 12:00noon.
