DHAKA: High ups of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) held an emergency meeting at DMP Headquarters at 11:00am Saturday.

Some officials, who were present in the meeting, told banglanews, “We reviewed the steps taken on Friday during 18-party’s rally and talked about next steps of police ahead of 18-party’s 3-day non-stop hartal from Sunday morning.”

We were also directed to ensure public safety, they added.

Deputy police commissioner of Tejgaon Zone Biplob Kumar Sarkar confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The meeting was attended, among others, by DMP Commissioner Benazir Ahmed and DCs, ADCs, ACs, OCs and detective officials.
