FARIDPUR: An elderly couple was slaughtered by the miscreants in Char Tepakhola-Munshidangi area under Sadar upazila of the district on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Shamsul Haque Mir, 70, a retired officer of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) and his wife Nargis Nahar, 60, residents of the area.

Sources said that their neighbors and relatives found their slaughtered bodies around 9:00am at their house.

The bodies were sent to hospital morgue for autopsy.

Kotwali Thana Officer-in-Charge Syed Mohsinul Haque said the murders were planned. “We are looking into the matter,” he said.
