JAMALPUR: At least 28 persons including the Sub-Inspector (SI) of Dewanganj Thana were injured in a triangular clash among Awami League, BNP and law enforcers in Dewanganj Bazar of the district on Sunday morning.
On the first day of BNP-led 18-party enforced shutdown, clash erupted between Awami League and BNP supporters at the Muktijoddhar Mor of the upazila at around 8.30am, reported banglanews correspondent.
During the time, police charged baton and fired 16 rounds of rubber bullets to bring the situation under control, leaving the SI Mamtaz Uddin and 27 BNP men injured.
Officer-in-Charge of Dewanganj Thana Mizanur Rahman told banglanews that more than 100 hartal supporters gathered at the Muktijoddhar Mor in the morning and tried to shut down the shops and block the roads.
Clash broke out as police went to bar the hartal supporters. In a stage police charged baton and fired 16 rounds of rubber bullets to take the situation under control, he added.
