LALMONIRHAT: The rail communication of Lalmonirhat was halted with other parts of the country as hartal supporters removed the slipper of rail track in Mahendranagar area under Sadar upazila of the district on Sunday morning.

Witnesses said that a group of hartal supporters brought out a procession in the area at around 9:00am. At one stage the protesters took off the slipper of the railway track.

The 18-party activists also vandalized district offices of Awami League and Railway Sramik League and Pubali Bank office at around 10:30am.

Lalmonirhat Police Super (SP) Habibur Rahman confirmed about the deployment of additional Border Guard Bangladesh and Rapid Action Battalion in the area.
