MAGURA: A pedestrian was shot dead during chase and counter chase between hartal supporters and law enforcers in Dhoail Bazar area under Mohammadpur upazila of the district on Tuesday noon.

The deceased was identified as Maruf 18, son of Afsar Sarkar resident of the upazila.

Witnesses said that pickets and law enforcers were locked into chase and counter chase in the area at around 12:00pm

At one stage of chasing, police opened fire to the picketers when Maruf sustained bullet injury on his way to local market.

However, he was rushed to Magura Sadar Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.

The victim’s cousin Aminur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
