KHULNA: Two people were shot dead by miscreants in Teligati area under Aronghata Thana of the district on Friday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Rahmat Ullah Ripon, 28, son of M Jafor Iqbal and Mithun, 28, a day labour and son of Mannan Sheikh, residents of the area.

Witnesses said that a gang of miscreants shot them in the area while they were fishing in a marsh around 5:00pm, leaving Ripon dead on the spot and Mithun injured critically.

Mithun succumbed to his injury on the way of Hospital.

Later, the bodies were sent to hospital morgue for autopsy.

Confirming the matter Aronghata Thana Sub-Inspector Anowar Hossain said they might have been killed over prior rivalry.
