Ferry services thru’ Mawa-Kawrakandi halted

MUNSHIGANJ: Ferry services on Mawa-Kawrakandi river route came to a halt since Friday night due to poor visibility for dense fog.

Sources said that 10 ferries got stuck in the mid of Padma river with over three hundred vehicles that pushed hundreds of passengers into serious sufferings.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Mawa Office Assistant Manager (Commercial) Chandra Shekhar told banglanews, “The ferry services were halted as 10 ferries got stranded in the mid of Padma at around 11:00pm.”

Confirming the matter, Mawa River police outpost Sub-Inspector Hafizur Rahman told banglanews, “More than three hundred vehicles remaned stranded at Mawa ghat due to ferry service disruption and the numbers of vehicles are increasing.”
