NARAYANGANJ: Bangladesh Police has sought help of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) to arrest fugitive Nur Hossain, the prime accused of gruesome seven-murder in Narayanganj.

Narayanganj district police office sent letter to the police headquarters in this regard on Thursday morning, which will be sent to the Interpol headquarters soon.

In the letter, Bangladesh also sought the issuance of red warrant to arrest Nur.

Dr Khandaker Mohid Uddin, Narayanganj’s superintendent of police (SP), told the journalists, “Nur is not in the country now, on basis of information of his hiding in India, we moved for sending letter to the Interpol.”

“Interpol’s help is necessary to nab the accused, who stay outside of the country,” he added.

Nur fled the country after the BNP-led 4-party alliance assumed power on 2001 and began residing in India since then. He controlled his crime world at Siddirganj in Narayanganj from there.

On April 17, 2007, Interpol issued an arrest warrant against Nur for his involvement in terrorism, explosion, and issuance of death threats to other and so on, as described on its website.

Interpol withdrew the warrant on March 2011.
