LALMONIRHAT: A court here on Monday sent 45 BNP leaders and activists to jail after rejecting their bail pleas.

Executive Magistrate Alamgir Sipon passed the order when the accused, including district’s Patgram municipal BNP convener Mostafa Salekuzzaman Opel, were produced before the court at noon.

Eleven of them were charge-sheeted in the local Chhatra Dal leader Nasir murder case.

The rest 34 were accused of creating anarchy in Burimari during the 10th national polls.

However, the defenders’ lawyer advocate Abdul Fattah said that they will appeal to the high court in this connection.
