Dr Masud among 2 on 4-day remand

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed two Jamaat-e-Islami men, including central executive member Dr Shafiqul Islam Masud, also former president of Chhatra Shibir, on a 4-day remand in a vehicles vandalizing case.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Masud Sheikh passed the order in response to separate 7-day remand plea filed by police.

Another accused is Mohammad Ibrahim, a Shibir activist.

Earlier, Masud was grilled once for six days while Ibrahim for four days.

However, the accused were arrested on August 9 from a residence of Jakir Hossain Road in Mohammadpur of the city.

Later, police filed a case against them under special power act with Dhanmondi Thana in connection.
