DHAKA: A Dhaka court has fixed September 15 for placing arguments in the radar-purchase corruption case against Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad and three others.
Dhaka metropolitan session judge Zahurul Haque passed the order in scheduling the date.
Earlier on June 11, Dhaka divisional judge court’s judge Abdur Rashid felt embarrassed on arguments of this case.
Then the case was transferred to Dhaka metropolitan session judge.
On May 15, Ershad denied any corruption in purchasing radars. Other two accused Air Force former chiefs Sultan Mahmud and Momtaj Uddin Ahmed also denied their involvement in corruption.
Another accused of the case AKM Musa is fugitive from the very beginning of the case.
Depositions of a total of 12 witnesses were taken for this case.
Earlier on May 4 in 1992, the then Anti-Corruption Bureau filed the case with Cantonment police station.
According to the case, Ershad, along with the other accused, purchased radars for the air force and caused the state a loss of taka over 64 crore.
