NARAYANGANJ: Selina Islam Beauty, wife of slain Panel Mayor and also Ward councilor Nazrul Islam, was elected councilor of Narayanganj City Corporation Ward-2 on Saturday.

Beauty bagged 5,266 votes while her nearest candidate Siddhirganj Thana Juba Dal Joint Secretary Iqbal Hossain Apel got 1,954 votes.

In an instant comment Beauty told banglanews that she wants to finish her husband’s uncompleted tasks.

The voters cast their votes from 8:00am which continued till 4:00pm without any break.

Three candidates contested in the by-election for ward councilor.

The post of Narayanganj Ward-2 councilor became vacant after the killing of Panel Mayor and also Ward councilor Nazrul Islam.
