MUNSHIGANJ: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said it is BNP’s democratic right whether the party will join the next general election, not the clemency of the government.
Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, made the remark after inspecting the construction work of a bridge in Sreenagar upazila of Munshiganj on Monday (April 2).
He said BNP thought there will be a mass movement among the people after Khaleda Zia sent to jail but there was no such thing happened anywhere in the country. Hoping for a mass movement is absurd especially when people are in election-mood.
Quader also challenged BNP to name some of the developmental works they have done for the people so that they will vote for BNP in the next election.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has done some election campaign in some parts of the country recently. The number of people that showed up in rally of Thakurgaon, which is also BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul’s home district, is noticeable. Also the size of the crowd in Chandpur rally is clearly saying that people will vote for ‘boat’ in polls.”
