DHAKA: The High Court adjourned till Monday (June 11) the hearing on the bail petition of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in a sabotage case filed in Cumilla.
On Saturday (June 10), The HC bench of Justice Md Shawkat Hossain and Justice Abu Taher Md. Saifur Rahman fixed the date.
Advocate Khandaker Mahbub Hossain stood for Khaleda Zia while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam accompanied by A K M Amin Uddin Manik and Deputy Attorney General Moniruzzaman Rubel stood for the state.
On Tuesday (June 5), Khaleda Zia filed an appeal seeking bail.
The High Court, however, on Thursday (June 7) adjourned her bail petition till this day.
The case was filed on charge of vandalizing vehicles in Chouddagram upazila of Cumilla on February 3, 2015.
However, on February 8, a Dhaka court sentenced BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to five years imprisonment in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case. She was sent to Dhaka central jail following the verdict.
