DHAKA: BNP senior leaders including party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir have failed to meet their Chairperson Khaleda Zia in prison on Eid day.

The BNP leader reached near the Dhaka central jail around 12:15pm Saturday (June 15) but police blocked them on the road half a kilometer away from the jail gate. 

Being denied, Mirza Fakhrul said Khaleda Zia has been imprisoned unjustly. We have submitted an application three days ago seeking to meet Khaleda Zia on Eid day but Police blocked us. It is just sad because according to the rules, meeting can be arranged with a prisoner on Eid day.
  
However, police said BNP men had no permission for the meeting but Prison authorities made no comment.
