BNP leaders not allowed, but relatives meet Khaleda 

DHAKA: Relatives of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has met her in jail, though a batch of senior party leaders were denied permission earlier.

A group of 20 people stayed in prison for 2 hours from 2:30 pm on Saturday (June 16).

Members of her (Khaleda Zia) family brought with them delicacies of her (Khaleda Zia) choice on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. They had lunch together. They came out of prison around 5:30 pm, sources said.

Earlier in the day, the BNP leaders, led by party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, reached near the Dhaka central jail around 12:15pm but police blocked them on the road half a kilometer away from the jail gate.

On February 8, a Dhaka court sentenced five years imprisonment to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia in Zia orphanage Trust graft case.

She was sent to Dhaka central jail following the verdict. Since then, she has been serving her sentence in prison.
