NOAKHALI: BNP standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed alleged that policemen barred him from leaving his house in Noakhali on Eid day but police on the other hand denied the allegation citing ‘the blockade was for security reasons’.
Moudud also indicated that Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quadaer, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister from Noakhali, is behind such activities of police.
However, police said Moudud was barred to leave the house for security reasons.
Moudud Ahmed was stopped by the police as he tried to get out of his Noakhali village home to exchange Eid greetings with party leaders and activists of Companigonj and Kabirhat electoral areas on Saturday afternoon (June 16). A police van blocked the house entrance from 3:00pm to 7:00pm.
“I was confined in my house by local and armed police under the direction of ‘unpicked minister’. It is another example of government’s of autocratic behavior,” Moudud said.
When contacted, Companiganj police station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Asaduzzaman told Banglanews that police requested Moudud Ahmed not to leave house before evening due to security reasons.
