DHAKA: The High Court fixed July 3 for the hearing upon the appeal of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
An HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order Wednesday (June 27).
Lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan moved for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), at the courtroom.
The HC earlier on March 12 issued an order granting four-month bail to Khaleda Zia, after she filed an appeal challenging an order that handed over her five years of imprisonment.
The court later upheld the order following appeals from ACC and the state. The court also ordered to dissolve the appeal by July 31.
However, on February 8, a Dhaka court sentenced BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to five years’ imprisonment in Zia orphanage Trust graft case.
She was sent to the Dhaka central jail on the same day.
The case was filed by ACC in July 2008, accusing six persons including Khaleda Zia and her elder son Tarique Zia of misappropriating over Tk 2.1 crore of foreign grant money.
