DHAKA: Four BNP leaders including party’s national executive committee member Major (Retd) Mizanur Rahman have been remanded in a case filed against them over plotting to sabotage Gazipur City Corporation election.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mazaharul Huq granted 2-day remand for Mizanur and one day remand for the other three BNP men after investigating Officer Arman Ali, a Detective Branch inspector, produced them before court Wednesday (June 27) seeking remand. 

Mizanur Rahman was picked up from his Gulshan residence on early Tuesday (June 26), hours before the Gazipur City Corporation election. 

A case was also filed against him with Dhanmondi Police Station on charge of attempt to sabotage the election.
