DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Thursday (June 28) extended the bail of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia till July 10.

Khaleda Zia wasn’t produced before the court as she fell ill in jail.

On behalf of her, her lawyer Sanaullah Mia pleaded for extending the bail.

Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 Judge Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman passed the order.

Besides, time extension was pleaded for Ziaul Haque Munna, another accused in the same case. The court granted the plea and set a date for hearing arguments regarding this.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lawyer Mosharraf Hossain Kajal was present, at the courtroom.

On February 1, the same court installed at the prison department ground in Bakshibazar of old Dhaka granted Khaleda Zia bail till February 25 and later extended it.

Khaleda Zia was convicted in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case and sent to jail on February 8.

However, Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the graft case against Khaleda Zia and three others with Tejgaon police station on August 8, 2011 for embezzling Tk3.15 crore from Zia Charitable Trust.
